just for fun

Not vintage, but just wanted to do a little showing off of my cute kiddo and her Halloween costume. I made up the pattern, so even though it isn't perfect I am pretty darn happy with it.

I found a turtle neck and hoodie (complete with sequins) at Target and she already had the pants. That way she didn't look like a little tramp or freeze her tail off.

 She was most excited about the make-up!

Now it has turned into a dress-up favorite!!

I totally have a project in the works that is for real vintage and suuuuuper tacky! Stay posted.

crochet passé mccall's style

My Aunt found an awesome book of crochet patterns at an Estate Sale. I think she even scored it for free!! The copyright dates range from1956 - 1970. So awesome.

I was going to crochet up a poncho for myself but I got a little bored with it and made it for Cora instead. I also skipped the fringe. If I ever get quick enough to make one for myself I am totally not skipping the fringe. It is just so cheesy. I love it.

1953 coat for cora

I found this pattern at a local estate sale. I am in love with the fact that the pants have a cuff. This is basically the 1953 version of a snow suit.

Since snow is not common here, I decided to use a vinyl coated fabric and make Cora a rain coat. This is one of the most challenging pieces I have ever made. First, working with vinyl is tricky. It doesn't like to go through your machine with ease since it is slick. Second, there are a million pieces to a coat.

All of that aside, I am really happy with the way it turned out. And it will be just the right size for Cora when fall rolls around. Or when summer decides to dump two weeks of rain on us just for kicks!
